Snoop Lion is setting out on his journey to reincarnation and bringing a few friends along for the ride. The rapper-turned-reggae star has called on Drake, Chris Brown, Rita Ora, and more for his upcoming album Reincarnated.

The reggae and dancehall-influenced album is due April 23 with Diplo and the Major Lazer production team serving as executive producers. It will be available for pre-order on iTunes on April 2.

Reincarnated boasts appearances from Drake, Chris Brown, T.I., Busta Rhymes, Akon, and Rita Ora, as well as dancehall stars Popcaan and Mavado. Tracks include “Lighters Up,” “Here Comes the King,” “La, La, La,” “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks,” “Harder Times,” and “No Guns Allowed,” which is slated to be the next single off Reincarnated. The personal song features Snoop’s daughter, Cori B., and has a hopeful and peaceful message.

“We were searching for true reggae music and the message of peace and hope it reflects,” said Snoop. “It’s so much a part of who I am, and this record is all about paying homage and giving respect to those who created and love reggae music, and hopefully introducing it to a whole new audience. I feel truly honored to make this album and respect to all who blazed the path for me.”

Drake season has begun. Universal Music confirms with Billboard that Drake will release his first single off his forthcoming third album on the night of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 10.

The song’s title is unconfirmed at press time, but is rumored to be either “The Start From the Bottom” or “Started From the Bottom.”

Meanwhile, Cash Money Records co-CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams told Billboard recently that Grammy night will be “the highlight of their life.”

This year we got something in store. We got a new record coming out this year. It’s just one of those nights that, after seeing each other together, that’ll be like the highlight of our night, the highlight of our life, the highlight of our year.”

Early this month, photos surfaced of Drake and director Little X on the set of a video shoot, possibly for “The Start Up From The Bottom.” Donning all white, the rapper was seen riding around in a droptop car.

It’s been over a year since Drake released his Billboard No. 1 album, “Take Care,” selling 1.9 million copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. “Take Care” spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

At first glance, the 2012 year-end R&B/hip-hop charts mirror those of 2011. Many of the same names are back in the limelight: Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Rihanna and Chris Brown, to name a few.

Best Known For: Alicia Keys’ “Unthinkable (I’m Ready),” Melanie Fiona’s “I Been That Girl,” Jamie Foxx’s “Fall For Your Type”

Why He’s Dope: Sure, we’ve poked fun at Mr. Graham for his hashtag rap moments. In actuality, being in tune with his inner emotions gives Drake a keen ear for rhythm and blues. He’s proven his lyrical expertise by penning songs for his own hip-hop projects, and ballads, and won BMI Urban Awards for Songwriter of the Year in 2011 and 2012.

Drake is lending his voice to a good cause. Tyra Banks has enlisted the Young Money rapper to perform at her Flawsome Ball next month.

In support of her mission to empower young women, the supermodel has partnered with the Lower Eastside Girls Club to create The Tyra Banks TZONE at the Lower Eastside Girls Club.

“Through this partnership, my lifelong mission of raising the self-esteem of young women and empowering them to feel beautiful inside and out can be realized for years to come,” said Banks. “It’s exciting that TZONE is now a physical space, as creating a place like this for girls has always been a dream of mine.”

On October 18, Banks will host the Flawsome Ball (“flawsome” is a combination of flaws and awesome) with a performance from Drake. The gala will be held in New York with proceeds benefitting the Tyra Banks TZONE at the Lower Eastside Girls Club. Tickets are available now.
