Via Rap-Up.com: After only five weeks in stores, Drake’s debut album has gone platinum. To celebrate the achievement, he’s announced dates for another headlining tour.

Thank Me Later has sold over one million copies in the U.S. since its June 15 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Drizzy showed his appreciation for those who supported him. “Thank you to everyone who allowed us to go platinum on a debut album! WOW,” he tweeted.

Via Rap-Up.com: Drake has postponed a series of European tour dates so he can be by his mother’s side as she recovers from a difficult surgery.

Following Sunday’s BET Awards, the rapper flew from California to Toronto to support his mother, who underwent surgery on Wednesday. “Back at my moms house…please include her in your prayers tonight as tmrw she faces a true challenge,” he tweeted on Tuesday night.

Via KarenCivil.com: Cool & Dre were busy in the studio with The Game Wednesday, June 23rd recording a hot new track titled “Good Girl, Bad GirL” at Encore Studios in Burbank, California last week. Cool & Dre have 3 songs on the album titled “THE R.E.D. album.”

The single will feature a verse by hip-hop recording star Drake. Queen Latifah stopped by to hang with the superstars while they were recorded.

Via YAF: Drake’s first week sales are in and they do impress. The Young Money artist’s debut album Thank Me Later officially moved 462,989 copies in just a week. Not to mention, his album already has gone platinum in Canada. Yep, platinum in just a week in his home country. Drake is officially the next big thing.

It is hard to believe that Drake is relatively new to the world of hip-hop and has yet to release a full-length album. However, today all that changes when Drake’s long-awaited debut album, Thank Me Later hits stores and his status goes from an up-and-coming rapper to a household name.

That was the night Drake knew his transformation from Aubrey Drake Graham — star of teen soap opera Degrassi: The Next Generation — to famous rapper had begun. That was the night Jay-Z performed in his hometown.

“Jay-Z coming to Toronto meant every single person was going to be there, which meant the majority of the people in my life were there,” the 23-year-old rapper recalls. “And there was a big rumor around the city: Is Drake close enough to Jay where he would bring me out? And people were like, ‘No, it would never happen.’”
