Via Rap-Up.com: Drake’s fans took very good care of him this week. The Canadian rapper-singer lands his second No. 1 on the charts with his sophomore album. Take Care places first on the Billboard 200 with 631,000 copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The impressive figures best his debut Thank Me Later, which opened with 447,000 in June 2010. He also earns the third biggest debut of the year behind Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV (964,000) and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way (1.1 million). A humble Drizzy took to Twitter to express his gratitude. “I can’t even find the words to express my appreciation…’thank you and I owe you’ is all that comes to mind…truly,” he wrote to his 4.3 million followers. Drake will face off against rock band Nickelback for the top spot on next week’s chart, which will also see debuts from Rihanna and Mary J. Blige. |

Via Billboard.com: Drake may be awaiting the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album “Take Care” (Nov. 15), but the Toronto rapper is already thinking about his next project: a joint mixtape with Rick Ross. Drake revealed to XXL Magazine that the rappers’ collaborative mixtape will be titled “Y.O.L.O.” (meaning You Only Live Once). Drizzy continued to say that Ross and him have been working on the project for a number of weeks. “We haven’t really connected because he’s been going through this thing with his health,” Drake said, “I’ve been stashing my little beats and verses.” While there’s no date on the mixtape release, the pair did collaborate on “Take Care” with the song “Lord Knows,” one of several songs to flood the ‘net prior the album’s leak. In the song, Rozay actually shouts out “Y.O.L.O.” before his verse, perhaps as a nod to what’s to come. Drake will also be featured on Rick Ross’s upcoming release “God Forgives, I Don’t” (Dec. 13). |
